First: Getting to know your students...Data Binders

First, you need to review your students IEP goals.
You want to ensure your centers will meet, practice and review their IEP goals throughout the day. Therefore get to know what your students. I always begin by reading my student's IEP, and begin to prepare their Data Binders.

What is a data binder??? It's everything that will prove you have done your job while abiding to the legal document called IEP. It takes a while to start it and organize it, but once you do, it will be easy and quick.
Here in my district, we have Matrixes that create the funding each student will receive. The state's office of education will randomly come by every so many years to ensure the funding is placed appropriately, therefore aligning your data binder with the matrix, will kill two birds with one stone.

My ESE Specialist and I created an outline based on the matrix but yet addressing the IEP.

You use this outline to create a binder. The binder will have 8 tabs.  Place the outline in the front of the tabs. I always write on the top of the outline Student's name and the IEP Year (Ie. J. R. Nov 2012-Nov 2013). I always like to create a pic with the student's name to place on the outside. This binder will move from teacher to teacher.

It is beneficial to meet your ESE team/colleagues to ensure that everyone is on the same page. This is very difficult, but I promise it saves a lot of time.

Tip: You can take tab 7 make copies and add them in the cum.

Each tab should have each goal individually typed and the data behind each goal. (It can be student's work or data sheets/tallies etc). If you need to separate within the tab, add a color sheet with the title of what goes.

I do not have the pictures of the binders since they are in school, but I will update the post with pictures. :) I am a visual learner.. so I will need pics.

This is the way I do it.  You have to make your way to take data... OWN IT. Make it so you will do it.

I am myself, need more work on data taking! Even after working with these classes 4 yrs trust me I still need fine tuning. I will update you on whatever I come up with as I go along. Maybe it works for you.
