2009-2010 Class Set Up

6/21/2013

This year I was out for three months for medical reasons,  and I came in October.
The autism coach (this was her old class), she set up everything and left everything.

It was my first year in an ASD Class, and I had never worked in a self contained class. It was definitely a learning experience. I knew nothing.. I learned on the spot. Lucky me I had a great team of people guiding me!! :)

So these pics shows her set up, and some tiny changes I added once I took over.
I love her for doing this for me... but I still ended up making MY OWN. :)
Morning Work/Whole Group/Social Skills Group/Circle Time

Depends on the time of the day.

Each student has their own color. Helps for schedules.

Also I use color feet to line up, this gives each student a visual where they need to stand. You may have to switch the line, since they don't always work as you want them too.

This is the set up for the kids... reminders of hands on hands and feet on feet. Sometimes you need to do this in other centers. Now the names I put on the top... it doesn't bother them when they write. You can either tape or use contact paper.
Transitions outside the classroom

Students will place their visual schedule for any activity that they transition out of the class.
Teacher Time

I used to have 6 students... the good old days. Therefore, I had one on one teacher time.
Eating Table

We used this are for snack, lunch or parties as well.

Since the therapist came at different times, they would use this table.
